Meat products are sent out frozen at -18°C and packed with an icepack. Our refrigerated vehicles run at around 4°C, so usually the meat will still be frozen when you unpack your order.
But if the box sits at your door for hours on a hot summer day and you get home late, we can’t guarantee the meat will still be fully frozen when you unpack. Very partially thawed meat can generally be refrozen, otherwise just keep in the refrigerator and eat within a few days.
Bendele Organic Farm, run by Sarah and Fred Sterns, is situated on 70 hectares of beautiful country in Kilkivan QLD, just west of Gympie. Bendele are a family run business and grow free range organic poultry. They work with nature, not against it, protecting the existing environment by using sustainable farming techniques, as nature intended.
Bendele's chicken is ACO Certified Organic, free from chemical pesticides, growth promotants, antibiotics, herbicides, and genetic modifications. The farm is also certified free range by Free Range Egg and Poultry Australia.
Compared to other organic farmers, Bendele's chickens are the most flavoursome, plump and juicy tasting, thanks to Bendele Farm’s ethical, organic and sustainable farming practices, which focus on raising birds slowly and naturally and with care. The chickens grow for around 80 days, compared to as little as 35 days for commercial chickens. This method further contributes to their richer taste and health benefits.
Chickens are free to roam on native and planted pasture, receiving a balanced certified organic diet and clean housing throughout their lives. They are fed certified organic sorghum, wheat, soya, grit and essential vitamins & minerals.
